Turra Physio

Combining Physiotherapy and healing technologies, getting results faster.

OUR SERVICES

Ross has worked as a Physiotherapist in the NHS, the Military, and with professional and semi-professional athletes since 2004. Having the opportunity to open Turra Physio has meant he has been able to bring together all his knowledge and experience, and invest in cutting edge, evidence-based, enhanced therapies, to help you get better, faster.

Turra Physio are a husband-and-wife team, Ross and Sarah Conniffe-Jones. Turra Physio was set up in the summer of 2024 after the couple moved from Cornwall to beautiful, rural Aberdeenshire in 2023, with their two children and dog, Nora.

Having both worked as physios in Cornwall from 2004, Ross in the NHS and the Military, and Sarah in the NHS, latterly in the community services with the palliative care team; they have over 20 years of experience each working in healthcare and rehabilitation.

Now as Turra Physio, Sarah is your first point of call, she is the one at the end of the phone, email, or media message, who you will contact to arrange your appointments and ongoing care.

Ross as the main clinician will be the one to welcome you to the clinic, comprehensively assess your musculoskeletal problem(s), discuss with you what can be done to help you achieve your desired goals, and get started with your treatment!

During the first year of Turra Physio, one of the themes that came up again and again, was that folk wanted to get better, back to work, and back to their activities faster. As such, Turra Physio have invested in the most up-to-date and evidenced based technologies to be able to offer such a service.

Turra Physio is one of a handful of clinics across the UK that can provide Focused Shockwave Therapy (FSWT), Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT), Electromagnetic Transduction Therapy (EMTT), High Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT), and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES). Their equipment is on par with technologies being used in professional and national sports teams, and institutes.

If you want to invest in yourself, confident that you are receiving the most up-to-date, evidence based, injury and rehabilitative care, Turra Physio is the right choice for you.

About us

  • A comprehensive initial assessment is the first step into working out how your problem / difficulty can be improved. Ross will take a history, find out about your lifestyle and responsibilities, and complete a physical assessment that will include specific tests and movement analysis to work out the root cause of your problem, and importantly work out what can be done about it.

Being empowered in knowing what can be done, you can then decide the level of care and treatment that you would like to undertake, confident that you have been assessed by an experienced and competent clinician that has treatment modalities that can get you to where you want to be, faster.

  • LightForce XLi 40W – High Intensity Laser Therapy

Currently, The LightForce XLi is the most powerful laser in its manufacture category. High Intensity Laser Therapy uses infrared light energy to produce cellular changes, a process known as photobiomodulation, to change the condition of damaged cells by stimulating their metabolism and accelerate the healing process.

With a power range up to 40W the LightForce XLi can be used to treat acute, or superficial injuries at lower power levels, or chronic and deeper structures at higher power levels, this is due to deeper infrared light and photon energy penetration.

Chattanooga Wireless Professional 4 Channel – Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation

Specific inbuilt programmes allow the clinician using the Chattanooga Wireless Professional to use for pain relief, muscle strength and rehabilitation, vascular, and neurological rehabilitation. The motor point pen can be used in conjunction with programmes to optimise electrode placement and the wireless pads mean that treatment can be delivered during exercise and training as appropriate.

    Duolith SD1 T-Top Ultra – Focused Shockwave

Currently the most advanced focused shockwave system on the market. Able to treat depths of up to 12.5cm. Focused Shockwave works by directing high energy soundwaves into damaged tissues to increase blood flow and stimulate natural healing by increasing cell metabolism, neoangionesis, stimulation of growth factors and tissue regeneration. Focused shockwave is also being used to stimulate stem cell proliferation in regenerative medicine. It is an evidence based treatment that can provide a non-surgical solution for a number of pathologies.

    Masterplus MP100 – Radial Shockwave

Radial Shockwave is used in lots of musculoskeletal clinics to treat muscle and fascia problems. Radial Shockwave uses pressure waves that penetrate up to 3-4cm and is best suited to larger, superficial treatment areas, diffusely delivering the pressure wave energy to increase blood flow and stimulate natural healing whilst reducing pain.

    V-Actor High Frequency Handpiece

This specialised handpiece enables the clinician to provide vibration therapy on its own or, can complement shockwave therapy very effectively. The frequency range is suitable for creating myofascial stimulation by interaction with the muscle receptors such as the muscle spindles, the Golgi tendon apparatus, relaxing the musculature and improving lymph flow. One of the main indications for use of the V-Actor is increased muscle tone which could be because of pain, spasticity following a stroke, or delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) felt after playing sport.
