I have always enjoyed playing all kinds of sports; enjoyed is the operative word here!...I’m sure that enjoyment has not always been shared by the people watching my efforts!
I have had a go at most ball games, various martial arts, tried boxing, shot full bore for Cornwall and jumped out of perfectly good aircraft.
This has given me a chance to get injured. Recover has sometimes been quick, other times it has been slow. This has allowed me to experience how to live, adapt and grow around these sometimes-permanent changes to my physical body.
These experiences, my enjoyment of sports and my interest in being around people who play games, run, jump, backflip; ride horses, motorbikes, and mountain bikes, and kick and whack balls around fields, means I have worked with sporty people throughout my career. I have spent time at Lilleshall National Sports Centre with the GB gymnastics team, as well as with multiple Premiership footballers recovering from lower limb injuries. I have worked with multiple professional rugby players from the international and top tier teams in Rugby League and Rugby union, as well as players for the Royal Navy, Cornwall County side, and countless local clubs.
I have also been involved throughout my military career with representative sports people including footballers, golfers, hurdlers, basketballers, hockey, ice hockey, rugby, field gun crew, CrossFit, boxers, martial artists, mountain bikers, motorcyclists, netballers, swimmers, triathletes, ironmen, ultra-endurance and Invictus Games Athletes.
From helping to diagnose injuries, to working with other professionals to expedite care, to rehabilitating post injury or post-reconstructive surgery. I have worked with many athletes from across the board. I also aim to improve performance and reduce the chance of further problems.
With that in mind, I can conduct biomechanical analysis, manual therapy, taping, bracing, orthotics, strength, mobility, speed and endurance training and provide mental health awareness and resilience education.
The key to helping the sporty person at any level is to understand their drive, goals, and needs. That way I have the best chance of finding the thing that is not working for them, and which is causing them pain and inefficiency.
Come and meet me to discuss your sports injury physiotherapy needs and you can give mt the full run through of how your injury happened and we can work out how to fix it!
