A letter from an ex-military patient

As a long-serving pilot in the Royal Navy (RN), I was in the habit of hiding things that ‘didn't need to be mentioned’. I was quietly falling apart until I was required to see Ross for a particular problem of very severe left knee arthritis.

Ross not only got me referred very quickly to a local surgeon for this my knee, but he also carried out a complete Musculo-skeletal review of my entire body.

This review showed up things that I had been living with so long that I no longer noticed them. Ross’s expert eye and swift diagnosis spotted them straight away.  I am now in the middle of a series of surgeries that will repair my joints ready for retirement, a period in my life that I will now be able to enjoy much more with all these problems rectified! I am having Trapeziectomy surgery x2 to my thumbs, and bi-lateral full shoulder replacements.  Ross also completed CT scans of my neck and spine to help with diagnosis and find appropriate treatments for the pain and discomfort I was experiencing in these areas.

Not only did Ross get me referred for diagnosis procedures and surgeries, he also guided me through exercises and stretches to help me maximise my mobility and strength in the places where I could not be surgically corrected. Ross also helped prepare me for the various procedures I needed, and ensured I would recover more quickly.  Once the procedures were complete, Ross led me through a programme to get my joints back to full mobility and strength very quickly. This has given me the highest quality of life possible and I ook forward to having my joints serve me well long into the future!

Ross can't quite work miracles, but he comes pretty close! I wish I had seen him years ago as I would have got my problems sorted out much earlier - it would have saved me significant pain!

It was a very sad loss to our area, and to the Royal Navy, when Ross moved to Scotland. We all miss his vast expertise and the friendly way he gets things done.  Whilst explaining why particular processes will help get you to full fitness, Ross is able to get the most of you.

I cannot commend, nor recommend, Ross highly enough! I would most certainly still be a patient of his if it was at all possible. You will not find a better physio anywhere! Lt Cdr “Tank” Murray AFC RN
